Nashik Kumbh Mela Parking Guide: Sadhugram & Ramkund

If you are driving to the Nashik Kumbh Mela, be aware that private vehicles are completely banned from entering the 15km radius around Ramkund and Sadhugram. You must park at designated "Outer Ring Parking Lots" and take government shuttle buses.

Thousands of families drive to Nashik from Mumbai, Pune, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. However, treating the Kumbh Mela like a regular road trip is a massive mistake. The sheer volume of pedestrians makes driving inside the city impossible.

The "Outer Ring" Parking Strategy

To prevent gridlock, the Nashik Traffic Police implements a multi-tier parking system. As you approach Nashik via the Mumbai-Agra Highway (NH3) or the Pune-Nashik Highway, you will be intercepted at check-posts.

You will be directed to massive, temporary parking fields capable of holding up to 10,000 cars each. These are usually set up on empty agricultural lands in areas like:

• Pathardi Phata (For Mumbai/Pune traffic)
• Adgaon Naka (For Dhule/MP traffic)
• Vilholi (For heavy vehicles)

How to Reach the Ghats from Parking

Once you park your car, you cannot walk to the river—it is simply too far. The government provides 24/7 continuous "Shuttle Buses" (MSRTC) directly from the parking lots to the inner city barricades.

These buses operate on dedicated green corridors where no other traffic is allowed, making them incredibly fast. From the final bus drop-off point, you will still have to walk approximately 2 to 3 kilometers to reach Ramkund or Tapovan.

Parking Near Sadhugram (Tent City)

If you have booked an expensive luxury tent in Sadhugram, they often provide "Vehicle Passes" authorized by the police. These passes allow your car to bypass the outer ring and park in dedicated lots directly next to the tent city. Always ask your tent operator to courier this physical pass to your home before you begin your journey.

Safety Tips for Your Car

• Do not leave valuables (laptops, jewelry, cash) in the car. The outer parking lots are massive and difficult to secure completely.
• Take a photo of the parking sector number. Finding your white SUV among 5,000 other white SUVs in the dark is a nightmare.
• Ensure your fast-tag is topped up and you have enough fuel before entering Nashik, as city petrol pumps may be closed or out of stock.
