Flying is the fastest way for international tourists and long-distance domestic travelers to reach the Nashik Kumbh Mela. However, travelers often face a choice: fly directly into Nashik's small regional airport, or fly into Mumbai and take a road transfer. This guide breaks down the best options.
Nashik Ozar Airport

Ozar Airport is located about 20 km northeast of Nashik city. It is a smaller regional airport managed by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) and AAI.
For most international travelers, landing in Mumbai is unavoidable. Nashik is approximately 165 km from Mumbai airport.
You can hire an outstation cab directly from Mumbai airport to Nashik. Journey takes 3.5 - 4.5 hours depending on traffic. Costs range from ₹3,500 to ₹5,500 based on the vehicle type.
You must travel from Mumbai Airport to Borivali or Dadar bus stands to catch a premium MSRTC Shivneri bus to Nashik. Highly comfortable, but requires navigating Mumbai first.
Take a local from the airport (Vile Parle/Andheri) to Dadar or CSMT, then board a Central Railway express train to Nashik Road Station.
During the 2015 Kumbh Mela, private operators offered helicopter taxi services from Mumbai (Juhu Aerodrome) directly to Nashik, cutting travel time to just 45 minutes. They also offered aerial darshan tours.
