Driving your own vehicle into Nashik during the Kumbh Mela requires strict adherence to the city's temporary traffic rules. To manage the massive influx of pilgrims, the Nashik City Police implements a "Ring Route" system and bans private vehicles from the city center.
On the three main Shahi Snan days (Aug 2, Aug 31, and Sep 11, 2027), NO private vehicles, including Ola/Uber or auto-rickshaws, are allowed within 5-8 kilometers of Ramkund and Sadhugram. You must park at the outer boundary and use official shuttle buses.
The city is divided into concentric circles (rings). The closer you get to the Godavari river, the tighter the vehicle restrictions.
Located at all major entry points to Nashik city (Mumbai-Agra Highway, Pune Highway, Dhule Highway). Massive open grounds are converted into "Park & Ride" lots. You will leave your private vehicle here.
From the outer parking lots, you board free or subsidized NMC/MSRTC shuttle buses. These buses will drop you at the Inner Ring barricades, typically 2-3 kilometers from the main bathing ghats.
The area around Ramkund, Tapovan, and Sadhugram. This is strictly pedestrian-only. You must walk from the shuttle drop-off point to the ghats.
Depending on which highway you arrive from, you will be directed to specific parking zones. (Exact lots for 2027 will be confirmed closer to the event, but historically these are the main areas):
Pathardi Phata / Ambad Industrial Area grounds.
Nashik Road / Chehedi area grounds.
Adgaon Naka / Ozar area grounds.
Peth Road / Makhmalabad area grounds.
