The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela is a major Hindu religious pilgrimage held every 12 years when Jupiter (Brihaspati) enters the Leo (Simha) constellation. Organized by the Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA), the event officially spans from 2026 to 2027. It commences with the spiritual Flag Hoisting (Dhwajarohan) ceremony on October 31, 2026. However, the most significant rituals occur during the Shahi Snan (Royal Bath) dates in August and September 2027 at the sacred Godavari River. Millions of pilgrims gather at Ramkund in Nashik and Kushavarta Kund in Trimbakeshwar to wash away lifetimes of sin. With an estimated 12 to 20 crore (120-200 million) attendees expected, the Nashik Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 will be one of the largest peaceful human gatherings on Earth, concluding officially on July 24, 2028.
